Handy Tips to Clean Your Photocopier
Laser photocopiers are quite costly. As such, it would be a shame to have your residential photocopier acquiring gradual damage because of slovenliness. You need to ensure your photocopier is kept clean to ensure it is working at optimum conditions. It should be noted that photocopiers can be cleaned both automatically as well as manually. You would need to know what options come with your individual photocopier before engaging in the cleaning process. Here are some of the handy tips you could use to keep your photocopier cleaned and well maintained.
Automatic photocopier cleaning
As aforementioned, some laser photocopiers come with an automatic cleaning function. To enable this, you will have to access your photocopier through your computer. Locate the photocopier's folder and double click the software. Search for options. Once you have located options, search for a tab that provides printing utilities. The software should then prompt you to follow some instructions to activate the automatic cleaning function. If you are unable to locate this menu, check the manual for your individual laser photocopier for further instructions.
Manual photocopier cleaning
- Before you start the cleaning exercise, round up all the materials you will need throughout the task. These are a linen or a soft cloth and a cleaning solution that will not be corrosive to either the metallic or plastic components of the photocopier. Ensure that the laser photocopier has been switched off. Then go ahead and unplug the laser photocopier from its power source.
- Dampen the soft cloth with the cleaning solution but ensure that you do not soak the cloth all the way through. Just make it moist enough for it to be able to wipe away all the dust that has collected on the exterior of your photocopier. As you are wiping the photocopier, safe guard that cleaning fluid does not drip into your machine.
- Once you are finished with the exterior cleaning and want to proceed to the interior, you will be required to put on some gloves. Carefully unhinge the back of the photocopier. Remove the paper trays and put them aside. Remove the toner cartridge and set it aside. Dust and bits of paper tend to get stuck on the trays so give them a proper wipe down with the same cloth and cleaning solution. Ensure that you use a cloth that is lint free so as not to expose the paper trays to more debris.
